rico story
Named after a homemade tiki bar in Manchester where we spent most of our time making music. It's called 'ricos', it felt like our own world to make whatever music we felt like, be whoever we wanted to be and say what it is we want to say. Hence the name. Now the proper bit...

Isla Rico is the birth project of Callum Richards, Jasper Whitehead and a love of 90s music. After writing songs together in university flats in Brighton, the pair found common ground in a passion for big stadium instrumentals and telling honest stories through their songwriting.

With a mutual desire to create music that allows people to escape life's challenges through a shared experience only music can provide, Isla Rico was born.

Isla Rico consists of long-term member Harvey Rafferty (Rhythm Guitar and Backing Vocals) and current rhythm section Brad Hull (Bass Guitar) and Sayon Beautfort-Harwood (Drums). Following features in Earmilk and Clash Magazine and hitting up major festival stages like Ynot, Lazydays and Great Escape, the lads' authentic musical shift couldn't have come at a better time.

Isla Rico has already proved they can make great music working with notable producer Andy Gannon (Clean Bandit, Jax Jones & The Courteeners). This time the band is taking it a step further and adding Matthew Fisher (The K's & Dirty Blonde) to add a fresh new perspective into the mix. Channelling musical influencers such as Stereophonics, The Verve, Sam Fender & New Radicals, their raw pop storytelling, melodic guitar solo's and an unignorable energy combine to deliver a fresh take on nostalgia perfect for a hungry wave of indie music lovers. Described as ‘the best of new indie brit pop’ by BBC Radio DJ Chris Hawkins. They have spent months in the studio working hard to forge and refine the songs to deliver just that.

After launching their new era to a sold out crowd at YES in Manchester. The britpoppers are building to the release of their new Single 'Smell The Roses' coming out via regent street records in Autumn 2025.
